Northeast United were Goa's bogey team last season, with the Guars losing and drawing to the Highlanders in their two meetings.
Northeast United start this season off the back of a disappointing last-place finish in the Super League 2017/2018. They have made some significant changes and new manager Eelco Schattories believes that his re-vamped team stand a chance against the Guars.
The Highlanders unfortunately did not complete their planned pre-season schedule in Sweden, however they did manage to seal the transfer of Bartholomew Ogbeche from Willem II, where he netted 12 goals in 38 appearances.
Bartholomew Ogbeche is a proven goalscorer
Eelco Schattories said earlier today:
"We have Bartholomew Ogbeche in the scoring department. Last season he played in Holland and he scored promising goals at the highest level. But he will need to adjust to the conditions here in India. I hope he will score a lot of goals once he adjusts to the surroundings."
So, what are the best odds in the market right now?
Despite the bookies backing Goa to win, they estimate that a 1-1 draw will be the most likely score. A result that will please Northeast more than their east-coast rivals.
