Formerly knows as Barstool Sportsbook, the recently rebranded ESPN Bet is easily one of the biggest names in sport to ever get involved in the online betting scene. And in short, we are disappointed with ESPN Bet. While the actual betting on the sportsbook is solid, with plenty of markets and lots of global leagues to wager on - the excitement built around the worlds largest sports media and stats brand jumping into betting has left us a bit curious why the site is still so 'standard.'
What We Expected From ESPN Bet
PENN Entertainment and ESPN are both huge respected brands, so our expectations for ESPN Bet were quite high, especially considering how it was kept under wraps for so long before launching.
At Bookies Bonuses we expected to see a fresh new take on sports betting with proper integration to the ESPN stats, news, and game previews that are posted on the traditional sports news site. Or at the very least solid link between the two so bettors could get some good insight into the matchup they want to wager on.
What We Got From ESPN Bet
ESPN Bet launched as a rebranded Barstool Sportsbook, with some updated images and a new color scheme. And honestly that's pretty much it.
ESPN Bet is a fresh coat of paint on an average sports betting site
There is nothing wrong with ESPN Bet, in fact it's actually a pretty decent sports betting since, albeit a bit basic. But we've not seen ESPN dominate the sports world for decades only to expect average when they jump into sports betting.
