Spread betting is probably the most common and popular market for USFL betting, and works the same as traditional spread betting for the NFL and other sports.

If you're unsure what spread betting is, it basically gives a handicap to teams based on who is assumed to be better. For example, the opening game of the 2023 season had the Philadelphia Stars (-2.5) @ Memphis Showboats (+2.5). Because the Stars are the favored team, the will need to win by more that 2.5 points to win against the spread. On the flip side, the Showboats can lose the game, but as long as they only lose by less than 2.5 points, this wager would win!

Moneyline is the most straightforward betting market for the USFL, and has bettors pick who will win the matchup.

Because the USFL is still a fairly new league since relaunching in 2022, this market can sometimes fluctuate more than other more established sports, which can make it worth it to compare line across multiple betting sites you have accounts with to find the most profitable wagers.

Over/Under betting on the USFL can be a lot of fun given how dynamic the games can be in the young league, and are frequently quite high scoring. Just make your selection on whether the point total of the game will be higher or lower than the line set by the betting site.

The USFL is split between North and South divisions, but the only futures bets you can find on betting sites at the moment is Championship Winner.

This isn't such a bad thing, and is fairly standard among smaller leagues and more niche sports, but eventually as the USFL expands there will be more ways to bet on USFL futures markets.

This is definitely one of the most disappointing aspects of USFL betting, as you can only add USFL moneyline outcomes to traditional, multi-game parlays. The only betting site that currently offer SGP for the USFL is BetRivers, though this is limited to combining moneyline, O/U, and spread results.

Most US betting sites offer prop bets on players or even team stats - including things like QB passing yards, first touchdown scorer, or even combined rushing yards of the team.

There limited opportunities for prop betting on the USFl right now, but certain top tier betting sites like Caesars Sportsbook and FanDuel offer them occasionally.

Live betting on the USFL is a little limited due to the overall lack of markets, but during the season you can expect to find a few different live props and markets to keep you engaged with betting during games.

3-Point Conversions

• Unlike the NFL which allows teams to kick a PAT or attempt a 2-point conversion from the two yard line, the USFL give an option for team to attempt a 3-point conversion from the 15 yard line. If a team attempt the 3-point conversion and it is returned for a touchdown by the other team, it will only be worth 2 points.

Timing Changes

• The USFL uses a 35-second play clock (instead of the NFL 40-second clock) for normal plays, and 25 seconds after administrative stoppages like commercials and time-outs.
• During the finals two minutes of each half, the play clock will be stopped after the first two downs to improve the two-minute drills fans enjoy.
• The game clock will keep running even after incomplete passes until the final five minutes if each half in order to speed up the overall time of the game and keep total running time to under three hours.

Onside Kicks

• Onside kicks are still allowed, but as an alternative teams can attempt a 4th-and-12 from their own 33-yard line instead. Like a normal fourth down, if a team converts they keep the ball with a fresh set of downs, but if not the opposition gets the ball at the spot of the down.

Kickoffs

• Kickoffs happen from the 20-yard line, not the 25, in the hope that more will be returned.

Overtime

• Overtime has been completely revamped from the NFL, with team alternating 2-point conversion attempts in a best of three 'shootout'. If teams are tied it goes to a sudden death for any additional attempts.

Two Forward Passes

• Taking inspiration from the XFL, teams will be allowed two forward passes in each play, as long as each pass happens from behind the line of scrimmage.

Caesars Sportsbook is one of the few betting sites in the country to offer adjustable lines for markets like Over/Under and Spread. We are very happy to say this is also a feature for USFL betting, which give you a ton of freedom to make the exact bets you want rather then being limited by the pre-set options.

Offering new users the biggest potential dollar value of any welcome bonus, Caesars gives players their first bet 'On Caesars' meaning you'll be refunded in full up to $1,250 as bonus bets if your first wager loses. So you don't need to worry as much if a pesky 3-point conversion ruins your spread bet at the last minute in a USFL game!

Caesars Sportsbook has really upped their SGP features lately, adding Super Same Game Parlay which allows combinations of traditional and SGPs. Sadly they don't offer same game parlays for the USFL yet.

BetRivers is the only betting site in the US with USFL Same Game Parlays right now. The options for placing SGPs are a bit limited though, with the only available markets being Moneyline, O/U, and Spread, so the most you can really get is a 2-leg parlay. Still, this is a great start and once more prop bets are adding having the chance to wager USFL SGPs will be excellent.

The USFL futures markets are quite good considering the only option is USFL Championship Winner. The reason we think BetRivers has the best futures market for the USFL is actually because the odds are more favorable for this particular wager compared to other betting sites.

Overall BetRivers has slightly less competitive odds for the USFL than other betting sites like Caesars or FanDuel. That being said, there isn't much of a difference with most moneyline picks only varying by about +5 to +10 either way.

FanDuel Sportsbook doesn't really put a foot wrong with their USFL betting options. The odds match most other betting sites, and they feature the standard moneyline, over/under, and spread betting markets.

When games are happening, there are some decent live betting options as well.

FanDuel has a great reputation as having some very competitive and often market leading odds. This isn't the case with their USFL lines, and while they're certainly not worse than other sportsbooks, you won't be able to find that slight edge to squeeze out extra profit from your USFL bets.

Even though the odds for USFL betting markets are generally quite close, DraftKings does edge out the competition for one key reason - spread betting odds. Most betting sites actually list spread odds a -110 across the board, but DraftKings features some spread markets at -105, which can give you a slight edge when looking to maximize potential profits.

DraftKings Sportsbook feature the standard moneyline, over/under, and spread markets for the USFL, but sadly nothing else. This is similar to several other betting sites we've showcased, but we know how much DraftKings usually offers for football betting so it's disappointing not to see player props and microbetting as well.
