Any seasoned bettor will know that feeling. One damn result doesn't go your way and all those other correct predictions are out the window. Well, not with acca insurance.
Betting combines luck and skill. If three of your eight predictions are incorrect, then I think we can all accept losing our stake. However if only one out of the eight doesn't go your way then that really hurts - bad luck has trumped your betting skills.
Betting Acca insurances go some way to mitigating this situation from occurring.
One damn result doesn't go your way and all those other correct predictions are out the window. Well, not with acca insurance.
Acca insurance example
Here we are going to use the William Hill acca insurance offer as an example. This should insure that if one result does not go your way then you'll at least get something back.
Now, this example may seem straight forward enough. But there are four things to note here:
- They will refund your original stake in FREE BETS
- There is a £50 cap on your original stake
- Unless you bet on the major football leagues you will have to bet on odds of 1/5 or greater.
- There must be at least 5 selections in the accumulator.
So, lets say you place a selection on 5 Premier League matches that are being played on a Saturday. Your stake is £25.
- Arsenal to beat West Brom (a)
- Manchester City to beat Chelsea (h)
- Everton to beat West Ham (a)
- Liverpool to beat Crystal Palace (a)
- Southampton to beat Swansea (h)
All your results go as planned, apart from Manchester City vs Chelsea, which ends in a draw.
Now, usually you would lose all the money you put down.
However with this insurance you will be refunded £25 in free bets. These free bets will be credited to your account and you will need to use them over the next 7 days.
Please read the small print with each accumulator though. We highlighted four points to be aware of at the beginning of the example. Those conditions are just for this example; each accumulator insurance offer will have their own stipulations.
We list the accumulator promotions on our site, which you can find selected for you below. In each of the promotions we write about we will try to point out what you need to know, but again, we recommend you look into the small print when it comes to each individual acca insurance.

Acca insurance FAQ
Does Acca insurance mean I win my selections that were correct
No. Accumulator insurance only refers to your original stake. Your bet is still void if one of your predictions are incorrect. The insurance will only fully or partially refund your original stake (usually in the form of free bets).
Is there a limit to the amount of acca insurances I use?
Yes. Most sites will tell you how many insurance bets you are allowed to place. In the example we used above from William Hill they have limited you to one insurance free bet a day.
Can I make any selections in my accumulator if I am using an acca insurance ?
Not usually. There are usually restrictions which mean you can only bet on certain tournaments or events. Alternatively, you will be restricted to selections with certain odds.
