Trying to claim multiple betting sign up offers?

Ben Smith
Ben Smith - Team Leader

Some betting companies operate multiple betting sites and restrict players to only one welcome bonus per player.

We created this table listing all bookmakers with sign up offers to show which betting companies restrict you to only one welcome bonus per player and which companies let you claim every welcome bonus from every betting site they operate.

Dont be a stranger

If you've found a new betting site that we haven't listed then contact us and we'll add it!

Understand Licencing and Why it Matters When Claiming Bonuses

Some sports betting sites will not let you claim their sign-up offers if you have already taken a welcome bonus from another sister betting site operating under the same UKGC licence.

Below we've listed all bookmakers with welcome offers in the UK alphabetically according to their parent companies' business names.

This table shows which UK betting sites share licenses and what bonus restrictions there are for players wanting to claim multiple bonuses from each site.

"One offer per player" means you can only claim one bonus from all sister betting sites. "One offer per brand" means that you can claim one bonus from each sister betting site.

About Bookies Bonuses

We've been comparing online bookies since 2009.

As a group of passionate punters, all with different reasons for betting, our focus has always been to give people all the information and then let them make up their own minds. That's why we're the only comparison website to list every UK bookmaker & sign up offer (that we know about).

But if you want more than just a list of betting offers, we have mini-reviews of the top 30 UK betting sites below as well as in-depth bookmaker reviews and even separate pages comparing bookmakers in a range of different categories.

If we've made a mistake or you have any other feedback you can contact us here read more about us here.

Bookies Bonuses have rated and reviewed all betting sites in 2024

Unlike your weird Uncle or most other comparison sites, we don't discriminate. We review and compare all betting sites in the UK - good, bad, or indifferent!

How Does Bookies Bonuses Review Online Betting Sites?

The competition is very stiff between the best online bookies, which is something that benefits the customers.

There are many factors to take into consideration when finding the best betting sites online, and below are the factors we think are the most important ones. Our experts also explain their top 3 online betting sites in each category.

Licence

First and foremost, the bookie must be fully licensed. If not, it won't be seen anywhere near Bookies Bonuses' rankings. Customers from the UK are only allowed to play on sports betting sites licensed by the UK Gambling Commission.

The Gambling Commission has the primary responsibility of regulating the UK market for online gambling and sports betting. The main goals are to keep it free from crime and to protect vulnerable people, including children.

About the Gambling Commission

  • Founded: 2007
  • Headquarters: Birmingham
  • Employees: 280

Our Experts' Best Betting Sites

  1. BetUK: Excellent KYC policy, state-of-the-art security/encryption, many responsible gambling tools
  2. Ladbrokes: The oldest licensed bookmaker, founded in 1886
  3. RhinoBet: One of the best self-regulating sites, never been fined by UK/Irish gambling authorities
Odds and Payout Percentage

To get the most out of your betting, you should choose an online bookie with competitive odds.

Of course, there will be instances in which one betting site favours one particular team or outcome more than others, so it's impossible to get a site that always has the best odds for the wagers you want to place.

However, the payout percentage gives a good indication of whether the bookie provides good value.

If it is a two-way market and the betting site is offering odds of 1.91 on each side, the bookie is taking a 4.71% margin, therefore leaving a payout percentage of 95.29% (very good).

If the odds are 1.83 on each side, though, the payout rate becomes 90.71%, which is far from ideal.

Our Experts' Best Betting Sites

  1. Betfair Exchange: The best odds offered across any bookmaker
  2. Bet365: Biggest payouts available in the UK, up to a maximum of £2,000,000 on football bets
  3. VBet: Lowest Bookmaker margin around, meaning better odds for the player on average
Variety of Betting Markets

All bookies offer odds on the biggest events, although the selection of odds can vary a lot between different sports betting sites in the lower leagues, and on the more uncommon sports.

You will want a bookie with a good selection of odds and markets for the sports and leagues you are primarily punting on.

For Premier League football, it's a given that you should be able to bet on. The matchwinner, total goals, goalscorers, and those sorts of bets.

But what really elevates some online betting sites is the range of alternative markets such as Man of the Match, player shots on target, offsides, and combination bets.

The same can be said for top-class events in other sports. The more options you have, the better.

Our Experts' Best Betting Sites

  1. William Hill: Offer 250+ market on football matches
  2. Unibet: Over 35+ sports to bet on, plus TV and Politics too
  3. Bet365: The best option for horse racing, with many extra markets and specials
Betting Offers

Choosing a UK bookie with a good welcome bonus or promotion can provide a significant boost to punters' betting bankrolls, especially when it comes to recreational bettors.

You can get great value through betting offers not only when you sign up, but over time as well.

Most UK betting sites have free bets as their welcome offer, and this is the perfect way to get your account off the ground, particularly if there are no wagering requirements on the winnings (which is the case more often than not).

Deposit bonuses can also be beneficial but there will always be wagering requirements on those.

As an existing customer, throughout your time with a bookmaker, you can expect to claim more free bets, as well as accumulator promotions, odds boosts, money back offers, and more.

Our Experts' Best Betting Sites

  1. QuinnBet: Over 30 various betting offers, including money back and enhanced odds
  2. Sky Bet: Dozens of daily racing and football offers and promos every day
  3. BoyleSports: Lots of money back offers and enhanced odds on racing
Payment Methods

All major online betting websites offer payments via debit cards, and the vast majority now offer PayPal for betting as well as other eWallets like Skrill and Neteller.

Prepaid cards are also more common now than they previously were, but you might need to find another banking method for withdrawals if you are using something like paysafecard.

You can't go wrong with bank transfers - and sometimes even cheques - but the drawback with those old-fashioned payment options is the time it can take to process transactions.

Ensure that the online bookmaker you are looking at has your preferred betting payment options before you sign up.

Another factor to take into consideration is fees for transactions to and from your account. These are rare, but don't take it for granted - there may be a small fee with some operators.

Our Experts' Best Betting Sites

  1. Bet365: Accepts 7 different payment types, the only welcome bonus that can be claimed with PayPal
  2. Sky Bet: One of two sites that allow welcome bonuses to be claimed with Apple Pay
  3. 32Red: Accepts 10+ payment options including many e-wallets
Betting Features

The development of betting accounts has been enormous over the past decade.

Live betting is one of these functions which has developed quickly to match demand.

Online bookmakers are expected to be top-notch live betting sites and cash out betting sites now, while live streaming is a big deal too.

The bet builder - in which a bettor can create their own bet - is also something that has grown in popularity and we have listed the top 10 bookies for bet builders.

On betting sites such as Coral, you can add things like player passes, assists, offsides, and tackles to your bet builder.

Pulse betting, which is available on SBTech-powered sites like Mr Play, is another innovative new feature which allows you to bet on things to happen in the next minute.

Our Experts' Best Betting Sites

  1. BetVictor: In-play betting including bet builders, plus full and partial cash-out features which are available on free bets too
  2. Bet365: Partial cash-out and auto cash-out available, as well as the ability to watch races you've bet on. Excellent bet builder options and Asian handicap markets also available.
  3. Parimatch: Bet Builder available in-play, all bets can be partially or fully cashed-out and this includes free bets also

Features That Set the Best Online Bookmakers Apart

Many of the UK's top online betting sites like Ladbrokes, Sky Bet, and Bet365 lead the way with innovative new features although some new players like BetUK, RhinoBet, and LiveScore Bet also have unique offerings.

These extras either can give you more betting options, extra value, more information, a smoother betting experience or, to be honest, can just be gimmicky add-ons designed to keep you engaged.

Still, there are numerous betting features that you have access to that your dad wouldn’t have when he was your age.

We discuss PromotionsBet Builders, and Live Betting along with the stand-out sports betting sites for each in the following sections.

Promotions

The UK gambling market is saturated and competitive meaning that many of the best betting sites in the UK aim to compete not with innovative features or markets, but rather through promotional offers for existing players.

Some promos are genuinely valuable while others are just designed to keep you playing. The most common and valuable betting promotions are:

  • Free Bets
  • Early Payout Offers
  • Odds Boosts/Enhanced Payouts
  • Free to Play Games
  • Acca Insurance
  • Best Odds Guaranteed
  • Money Back Bonuses
  • Extra Each Way Places

The best betting promotions can generally be found at the UK bookmakers with the biggest marketing budgets.

Bet365 comes to mind for their racing price promise, Each Way Extra option, early payout offers when the other team goes 2 goals down, or money back for a 0-0 draw although BoyleSports also has this for red cards or when there's a penalty scored. Both of these bookies also have Best Odds Guaranteed available the day before a race.

Paddy Power offers a couple of free games like their £5,000 Beat the Drop game, Sky Bet and Betway have free bet club, Coral has the Coral Racing Club and Grosvenor offers a weekly shot at £1 million among other promos.

Other standout bookies include Betfred which offers 5+ fold acca insurance, regular boosts, or double/triple odds on goalscorer markets when your player gets a brace or hat trick, or Virgin Bet which awards free bets for placing accas or backing a 3/1+ winner.

Even Rhino Bet and Kwiff are worth mentioning for boosted odds/payout offers.

QuinnBet's another surprise with numerous money-back and free bet offers regularly available.

Sky Bet Club Home Page

Sky Bet offers free bets and free spins offers to players who meet different staking criteria every week

Bet Builder

The Bet Builder (invented by Bet365) is a feature that lets you build an acca using only markets from the same game. Before bet builders, you could only create accas if each leg was from a different event.

Bet Builders allow you to get a much larger payout than single bets but they also require all events to occur for you to win. These days most online betting sites have bet builders for at least football but some have them for several US sports and tennis.

The Bet Builder features we want to see include:

  • Cash Out
  • Extra Statistics
  • Number of Sports/Leagues
  • Stat Markets
  • Acca Boosts
  • Acca Insurance
  • Acca Free bets

The best bet builder sites then are the ones with the best odds, most betting options, and highest quality extras like promos.

This means that Bet365 which has the most markets including all basketball and football matches comes out on top. The Bet365 bet builder covers a wide variety of options within each match and can often be combined with the cash out feature.

Paddy Power's bet builder for football is unique with various stat markets and promos like 'Free Bet if One Leg of Your 4+ Fold Acca Lets You Down'. Betfair offers a comprehensive bet builder that caters to football, NBA, and NFL punters and also has free bet offers for winning bet builders.

Coral's bet builder stands out for its player-specific bet builder markets as does BetVictor's basketball bet builder which includes player steals, turnovers, blocks, and three-pointers plus the option to adjust the total for each prop.

Other top bookies for Bet Builders include Betway which offers plenty of Bet Builder promos including Bet Builder free bets on #BetYourWay markets, William Hill which has a very wide selection of Bet Builder markets including cards markets, Betfred which offers special Bet Builder markets like goal method, and Unibet which has loads of stats and information to accompany their Bet Builder.

    Bet365 football bet builder

The Bet365 Bet Builder is widely regarded as the best in the UK because it is available for the most sports and has many of the most popular betting markets

    Live Betting

Live betting is popular among professional bettors because it's often possible to find value in more obscure markets before the bookmaker's trader has time to adjust.

Live betting can also make an otherwise boring game of football that much more exciting. Notable things to look out for if you're going to bet live include:

    • Cash Out
    • Live Stats
    • Live Streaming
    • Live Play-by-Play
    • Minute Markets
    • Stat Markets
    • In Play Racing Markets

All bookies offer in-play betting options, especially for football, tennis, NBA, and NFL markets. The best live betting sites offer something slightly different though.

LiveScore Bet's live streaming options include domestic and international racing and top football leagues like La Liga and their live stat markets on big games include shots on target, possession, fouls, and offsides.

Bet365's cash-out option lets you cash out of almost every market live with auto and partial cash out options also available across the board.

Parimatch's boosts are available for in-play markets, Sky Bet's in-play offering is extensive, and both Betfair and Ladbrokes offer in-play racing markets.

      Livescorebet live betting

With a quality app, live streaming for horse racing and football, and a bunch of in-play stats markets LiveScore Bet is a great live bookmaker

The Best UK Betting Sites by Sport

Although modern UK bookmakers offer anywhere from 10 to 30+ different sporting options and upwards of 200+ pre-match markets for things like NBA, NFL, and even AFL, most online betting in the UK is still done on Football and Horse Racing.

Below we examine the most popular features for each of these sports and highlight which betting sites excel for each.

      Football

Football betting has evolved massively in recent years. Since the birth of online gambling platforms, the top operators have innovated in a huge way and now punters are presented with tons more options than the previous generation.

Today, our favourite football betting features include:

      • In-Play Betting
      • RequestABet
      • Daily Boosted Odds/Accumulators
      • Cash Out
      • Player Stat Bets
      • Early Payout and Other Special Offers
      • Bet Builders

All UK betting sites for football offer at least the majority of the above - on top of the basic markets and functions - but the quality can vary greatly from bookie to bookie.

BetVictor is often overlooked but ranks highly because of its attractive features such as pre-match and in-play odds boosts, unique wagers like specific player goal assists, and a top-notch bet builder. On the other hand, we can't ignore Betfair for providing the best odds in the market on the exchange as well as popular #OddsOnThat RequestABet markets and game boosts.

Unsurprisingly, Bet365 boasts an extensive selection of football markets, including Asian lines, and a unique 2 Goals Ahead Early Payout promotion making. While lacking RequestABet options, they make up for it with an exceptional bet builder. Ladbrokes excels in their bet builder too, offering various player statistics and additional opportunities to win cash through promotions like 'acca boost' and 'free bet back,' as well as gimmicky games like 1-2-Free.

Betfred specializes in goalscorer bets and features promotions like Double Delight and Hat-trick Heaven, which offer increased odds for players scoring multiple goals. They also provide well-loved features such as acca insurance, cash-out, in-play betting, and odds boosts. Similarly, BoyleSports offers a comprehensive range of promotions with a focus on bet builders and accumulators. They provide special features like double winnings and money-back options for specific events, along with the Fantasy5 cash prediction game.

Paddy Power is known for its free bet builder credits and enhanced prices for major fixtures. While lacking Asian handicap markets, they have a versatile bet builder and a broad RequestABet section. Casual punters can also enjoy the free Beat the Drop game and participate in daily fantasy contests for added excitement.

      Horse Racing

Horse racing betting has been prevalent in British culture for more than 300 years, and it remains a big part of the gambling ecosystem in the age of online gambling.

A good horse racing section can separate the best UK betting sites from the rest. Some of the features and markets you’ll want to look out for on the top racing betting sites are:

      • Best Odds Guaranteed
      • Money Back Offers
      • Extra Place Races
      • Enhanced Odds
      • Betting Without the Favourite
      • Forecast/Tricast
      • Winning Distance
      • Match Bets

The best horse racing betting sites may not offer every market or feature above but these days many new bookmakers either lack quality or lack markets altogether for racing.

Paddy Power recently ranked as our top choice in this department, with a fantastic depth of markets, great odds and their frequent 'Power prices', which are essentially odds boosts. Their mobile app runs smoothly and only sweetens the pot, making it a very well-rounded site and a must-have for betting on the nags.

Ladbrokes is hard to ignore, offering extra place races in the UK, Ireland, and France as well as tote betting, Best Odds Guaranteed, live streaming, and in-play betting for UK and Irish racing. Additionally, they offer betting and streaming options for races in various countries such as France, South Africa, USA, and more.

BetUK may not be the first choice for racing betting, but their Kambi-powered platform stands out with a great welcome offer and a Free Bet Club for weekly horse racing bets. Live streaming, existing customer promotions, forecast/tricast, and Timeform analysis for UK and Irish racing are also on the table. Betway also stands out for free bets with its Free Bet Club, where users can get £10 in free bets weekly for betting on accumulators. They provide Best Odds Guaranteed, #betyourway specials, and daily boosts. Betway also offers live streaming for UK, Irish, and some international races.

Sky Bet is recommended for odds boosts like combined jockey wins and winning favourites on standalone races and accumulators along with daily RequestABet & Specials markets and comprehensive ante-post options. The site also integrates tipster selections for less experienced bettors. Then there's Coral with the Coral Racing Club, frequent promos, and even the ability to build your own racecard.

Betfair is known for its market-leading exchange, which appeals to knowledgeable punters who prefer trading but it also provides better odds than most sportsbooks for regular racing bets. The site offers #OddsOnThat markets, lengthening odds for horses winning by a specific number of lengths. Bet365 also offers a comprehensive sportsbook, including horse racing, with unique promotions like Bet365 Price Promise for UK/Irish races shown live on ITV. Bet365's Each Way Extra option allows users to customize the number of places they want to be paid out.

What's an Online Betting Site and How Do They Work?

      What Are Betting Sites?

Betting sites, also called online bookmakers, bookies, or sportsbooks, are online platforms that accept wagers on a range of sporting and novelty events including football, horse racing, tennis, and even reality TV shows like Love Island. Today, many betting sites are also home to online casino games, bingo, poker, and lotteries.

Bookmaking in the UK has its roots in 18th-century horse racing where individuals would accept bets on races and keep a record, or "book," of wagers. This gave way to betting shops in the 19th century and it's only been in the last 25 or so that online betting sites have emerged and now become the most dominant medium for UK punters to place bets.

How Do Sports Betting Sites Make Money?

In order to understand how betting sites make money you first need to understand a few things about betting.

      • When you place a bet online the betting site offers you a price, also known as the odds
      • In order to win, the outcome that you bet on must occur, otherwise your money is lost
      • The amount of money that you win is determined by the odds of that outcome occuring

      Probability and Odds

Odds represent the probability of an outcome occurring.

For example, a bookmaker could offer odds of 1/1 on a single coin flip for the outcome to be heads and 1/1 for the outcome to be tails.

To understand what this means in terms of probability we can add the number before the "/" (numerator) and after the "/" (denominator) eg. 1 + 1 = 2, and then divide the denominator by the result eg. 1 / 2 = 0.5.

Multiplying this result by 100 gives us the percent eg. 0.5 x 100 = 50%.

Or you can use a list like the one below:

      • 1/5 = 83.3%
      • 1/4 = 80%
      • 1/3 = 75%
      • 2/5 = 71.4%
      • 1/2 = 66.7%
      • 2/3 = 60%
      • 1/1 = 50%
      • 3/2 = 40%
      • 2/1 = 33.3%
      • 5/2 = 28.6%
      • 3/1 = 25%
      • 4/1 = 20%
      • 5/1 = 16.7%

In this case, the probability of both a heads or a tails on the coin flip, as determined by the odds, is 50%. This means the bookmaker expects 50% of coin flips to result in heads and 50% in tails.

Before we go any further though, we need to understand how odds relate to money.

      Odds & Payout

To calculate your payout from the odds (this is automatically visible when you select odds on all betting sites) you can you this trick:

The numerator is your profit when your stake matches the denominator eg. odds = profit/stake

So, 1/1 in odds means that you will profit £1 for every £1 you stake if your bet is successful.

Similarly, 2/1 in odds means that you will profit £2 for every £1 you stake, and 1/2 in odds means that you will profit £1 for every £2 you stake.

Just remember, the higher the odds are, the less likely the bookmaker thinks that outcome will occur but the more money you will win if your bet is successful.

Going back to the coin flip, we now know that the bookmaker thinks that you will profit £1 on 50% of coin flips and lose £1 on 50% of coin flips.

So how do betting sites make money?

Betting sites make money because the given probabilities of all events occurring in a market never add up to 100%

In other words, a bookmaker would never offer 1/1 odds on both sides of a coin flip because then they have no edge. Instead, they would likely offer 9/10 odds on both outcomes.

9/10 odds = 52.6% probability of each outcome occurring (105.2% total) which represents the fact that the bookmaker has an edge of 5.2%. 9/10 odds also means that you will profit £9 for every £10 you stake when you win your bets.

Because we know that in reality, each coin flip should have an equal 50% chance of occurring, and because your profit is less than your stake. You as the punter will slowly lose money over time.

Another way to think about this is if you bet £10 on both heads and tails you would lose £10 and only win £9 for every coin flip meaning a loss of £1 for every toss.

This is how bookmakers make money, because they 'price in' an edge to every market

This means that the odds given on a betting site are likely not the true odds of an event occurring, rather, they represent an implied probability with the bookmaker's edge priced in.

      Is that it?

No. To take this one step further, bookmakers don't actually know what the true probability of an event occurring is. Instead, they make a guess based on computer models and statistics when they set the opening odds.

When the odds are released, punters will react to the odds and prices offered and if they think that the bookmaker is wrong, then they will bet more heavily on one outcome rather than another.

Bookmakers use this betting activity and market knowledge to adjust their prices and cover their losses.

Imagine that they priced heads on a coinflip at 1/1 (50%) and tails at 4/5 (55.6%), everyone would bet on heads and they would adjust their prices in line with the market both to mitigate any losses, but also because the market has given them more information about the true odds.

The final piece of the puzzle is this. The market is not actually truly rational.

You can bet on the coin toss at the Superbowl and because of the popular saying "tails never fails", more punters chose to bet on tails. So should the bookmaker actually offer a better price for heads, even if they know the probabilities are equal?

Yes, often if the betting activity is heavy enough then the bookmaker will give you better odds for an outcome than the true probability. This is because overall they might want to make sure that they win whether it is heads or tails (i.e. they will pay fewer people more money for heads or more people less money for tails but overall they will pay both groups the same amount in total).

This is where the individual punter can make money from betting in the long run.

The bookmaker may increase prices in a market where one outcome is favoured less than it deserves to be to mitigate losses on the other side, or they may be slow to react to the market's activity and knowledge after opening, so if you can spot the times when the bettings site has incorrectly priced the probability of an outcome, like a coin flip, a draw (because who bets on the draw?), or the underdog in some obscure 4th division Australian football match that you're following thanks to the bookies' live stats feature, then it's possible to make money from betting sites instead.

Legality, Signing Up and Placing Your First Bet

      UK Betting Site Legality

The first laws that specifically governed online gambling in the UK were introduced with The Gambling Act 2005. In the following years, various laws including The Remote Gambling Act 2014 and The Gambling (Licensing and Advertising) Act 2014, required all online betting sites and casinos to obtain a license from the Gambling Commission (UKGC) to offer and advertise their services to UK residents.

More recently following The Gambling Act Review in 2018 and 2023, additional consumer protection measures were implemented especially concerning advertising and mitigating underage and problem gambling through stricter stake limits, checks for proof of funds, improving self-exclusion functionality and availability, and increasing education, help, and awareness for problem gambling.

The Gambling Commission has also made headlines in recent years for the large fines issued to some betting operators for failing to protect vulnerable customers or follow anti-money laundering regulations.

Today there are over 205 online betting sites licensed by the Gambling Commission and more than 900 total online casino, sports, bingo, and lottery sites.

Overall, you can be assured of a safe and fair experience as long as you stick with a licensed UK bookmaker as all of their activities are monitored by the UKGC and subject to British law. The UKGC remote gambling license is widely regarded as one of the hardest betting licenses to obtain and keep.

      Choose a Betting Site

Choosing a betting site doesn't have to be difficult because, in many ways, they are all very similar and will give you a similar betting experience.

All UK betting sites have similarly priced odds for major sporting events, many accept all common payment options like PayPal and card and all licensed bookmakers are trustworthy.

We have the longest list of online betting sites and their offers at the top of this page or you may feel more comfortable going with one of our experts' favourite betting sites.

There's also no need to limit yourself to just one betting website either, they all offer something slightly different!

Register and Claim the Sign Up Offer

After clicking on one of the buttons on Bookies Bonuses to visit your chosen betting site you'll need to register.

This requires some basic information like your name, address, phone number, and birthday.

This is then used to verify your age and identity with the electoral register to check that you are a UK resident, don't already have an account, and are not on a self-exclusion list.

Occasionally this process takes a little longer and you'll need to send a photo of your passport or phone bill - don't worry this is normal and these documents are destroyed after verification is complete.

      Make a Deposit

The next step after signing up is to load your account with some money.

In order to qualify for the betting site's sign up offer, you'll probably also need to make a deposit and/or wager that deposit once (be sure to check the Ts and Cs for specific sign up bonus rules).

The minimum deposit amount at UK betting sites is often between £5 and £10 and you'll likely have a variety of different instant deposit options (like PayPal, Apple Pay, Boku, Card etc.) available to you in the Account or Wallet section of your betting account.

      Find a Market

After successfully depositing it's time to start having fun.

Start by searching for a market to bet on. Bookmakers' homepages often show all the biggest events that are live or about to start but the menu can also be used to navigate to a sport, league, or match.

Or, if available you can use the search function. After finding an event, different tabs within the event will display different betting markets like Match Result, Player Specials, or Outrights.

      Add Bets to Your Betslip

In order to actually place your bets you will need to select a market to add it to your betslip. You can do this by clicking or tapping on the odds displayed.

You can of course select multiple bets from the same event or even combine bets from different events into one larger accumulator.

Or, if available you can even combine bets from the same event using the Bet Builder function.

      Place Your Bets

To lock in your bets you'll need to enter your stake in the betslip.

Your betslip will also show you what your payout will be if your bets are successful.

You can now track your bets in the Pending or Unsettled Bets section of your account with many bookmakers these days also offering the opportunity to cash out of your bet early to receive a decreased payout before the bet settles.

      If You Win, Withdraw!

Soon after the event that you bet on has finished your bet will settle and your account balance will be updated if you won.

You now have the option to keep playing or to withdraw your winnings. This process is much like depositing but do be aware that restrictions like a £5 to £10 minimum withdrawal amount may apply.

Also, know that most bookmakers have a live chat feature these days so if you run into any trouble along the way there is help available.

      Placing Your First Bet Online

Once you have a basic understanding of what a betting site is, how odds work and you've signed up and deposited then you're in a great place to start betting.

After searching for or using the betting site's menu to find the event you want to bet on you'll need to decide what kind of bet you want to place.

Remember that the bigger the odds are, the less likely the bookmaker thinks that outcome will occur, but the more money you will win if it does.

It's also important to understand what you're betting on.

Most players will start with a simple bet like a Match Result bet eg. who will win a football game or will it be a draw?

There are, however, hundreds of different betting markets to bet on depending on the popularity of the event you're betting on and the type of sport, race, or novelty market that you chose.

      Some common betting options include:

      • Match Result - What will the outcome of a match be?
      • Outrights - What will the outcome of a tournament/league be?
      • Over/Under - Will the total score or number of goals be over or under a certain number?
      • Handicap - What will the match result be with a certain handicap applied?
      • Correct Score - What will the exact score of a certain match be?
      • Goalscorer - Who will score a goal? The first or last goal?
      • Accumulator - A combination of bets from two or more independent events.
      • Bet Builder - A combination of bets from two or more dependent events.
      • Asain Handicap - More advanced. A handicap bet but your stake is returned if the result is a draw.
      • Each Way - Common for horse racing or outrights. Two separate bets, one on a winner and one on a place.

Also, be aware that if you've claimed a sign up bonus like Bet £10 Get £30 your first bet may have certain restrictions eg. a minimum stake of £10.

The other thing to know is that when you select multiple different bets you will have the option to combine unrelated bets into a larger accumulator in your betslip or to place all of your bets as single bets.

To bet on multiple different outcomes from the same game you will need to use the Bet Builder function.

5 Rookie Mistakes To Avoid When Betting Online

      1. Missing Out on the Sign Up Offer

Missing out on a betting sign up offer is basically like missing out on a chance to get a few quid for free.

There are several reasons why you may miss out on a bookmaker's sign up bonus.

The first is that you either don't know it exists or you forget about it and let it expire. You can always check your active bonuses in the Account section of your profile, here it will also show relevant bonus conditions like expiry time, minimum odds, or any wagering requirements.

Not fulfilling bonus conditions can also cause you to lose your bonus for example you need to place your first bet with a minimum stake of £10, on an outcome with a minimum of 1/2 odds or you may need to re-bet your deposit bonus several times before you can withdraw the winnings.

Some bonuses require you to opt in by ticking a box when signing up while others, like the Rhino Bet sign up offer are only available to Bookies Bonuses users - be sure to watch out for these requirements when signing up.

Another reason you may miss out on a sign up offer is if you already have an account with that betting site or a betting site owned by the same parent company. Or if someone in your household has already claimed the bonus you're trying to get.

      2. Betting Without a Plan

People bet for different reasons. It may be around big events when their mates are, to add excitement when watching sports, they may be professionals or they may even be insiders betting when they're not supposed to be.

Being honest with yourself and recognising the reason why you bet is important because it will help you set boundaries and place smart bets that you can enjoy or justify, whether they're succesful or not.

Generally, it's advised to bet on events you know a least something about, this will help you to avoid spending all of your winnings on table tennis markets because that's the only thing in play when you're online.

Having a plan also means deciding before you start playing how much you're willing to lose. Setting these kinds of boundaries is important when you get the undeniable urge to deposit again.

      3. Only Betting on One Market

There's many more options then straight Match Result or Win bets at online betting sites today.

Do you think that a match will be low scoring? Why not bet that there be under 2.5 goals?

Not sure if a horse will win or place? Back them Each Way.

Your favourite player is on a roll? Back him to score or have over 2.5 shots on target.

The reason why there's so many betting options is that because they cover many of the different ways an event can unfold. Understanding just some of these will likely make finding your bets more exciting and can often make your betting more profitable.

      4. Cashing Out

The Cash Out function has a time and a place but it's often a trap for rookies to lose their edge.

When you cash out of a bet, the bookmaker offers you a smaller payout than what you would get if you let the bet settle, but you have the guarantee of a payout.

The thing is, the price offered when cashing out is always less than the price you would get if you placed a second bet at the current odds. This means that the bookmaker also takes a margin on the cash out price so you are never getting the real price for your cashed-out bet.

In a simplified example, let's say that you bet £10 on a team paying 1/1. Your potential payout is therefore £20. The team you bet on is winning 1-0 at halftime, and the odds have dropped to 1/3. The bookmaker offers you £12.50 to cash out of your bet. However, in reality, they should be offering you £13.33 (which is the payout if you backed the team now, at 1/3 odds).

Most professional bettors avoid cashing out for this reason although if you're not planning to bet often it may still be worth cashing out and guaranteeing your winnings.

      5. Not Asking for Help

Betting does not have to be, and often shouldn't be done alone.

If you're not sure what to bet on, there are hundreds of tips sites out there with sports fans and experts that analyse matches, or help you learn how to analyse matches making you a smarter bettor.

If you can't find your way around a betting site, or you are having trouble understanding a certain feature or sign up offer then you can turn to sites like Bookies Bonuses or even the live chat support of your chosen bookmaker.

If you find yourself betting more than you want to be, or are not telling friends or family about your betting because you're embarrassed then you might want to talk to someone. www.gambleaware.org is a great place to start.

What is the best betting site for horse racing?

Bet365 is the best betting site for horse racing in our opinion, offering the most betting markets available and featuring live streaming of all UK & Irish racing.

Bet365 really push the boat out when it comes to markets and promotions, with regular features such as enhanced pricing, each-way extra, and their ITV racing price promise giving users plenty to like.

But it doesn’t stop there, with Place 6 and Win 6 on all UK meetings, plus more niche markets, such as Match bets between runners in certain races, Jockey Performance and Trainer Performance betting, plus Jollys and Rags which has users predicting whether the leading two in a market will beat the remainder of the field.

It’s not just pricing and promotions that makes bet365 stand out for horse racing betting, it's the extra attention to detail that really improves the user experience.

An ability to add runners to a list makes keeping track of favourite horses much easier, while the option of being able to watch any of the last five runs a horse has made in the UK & Ireland is great for garnering extra information before making a selection.

What is the best betting site for esports?

Betway is the best betting site for esports, offering a dedicated section for esports events on their site, with over 10 different games and live streaming of events too. They clearly see esports as the future of betting and have even sponsored teams over recent years.

Betway’s dedication to esports markets is highlighted by their Free Bet Club, which gives users a free £10 bet if certain criteria are met when betting on esports.

Although there are plenty of esports betting sites around, Betway stands above the rest with little extras such as odds boosts on certain events or matches, plus the ability to bet in-play and cash-out bets too.

What online betting site has the best odds?

The Betfair Exchange provides the best odds available for users, Exchange bets are placed against other players, rather than the sportsbook, which allows a smaller margin to be taken by the bookmaker, which is passed on to the player in the way of higher odds.

Bookies Bonuses features a further three bookmakers that are home to betting exchanges, which will in general provide better odds than a sportsbook.

For players looking to avoid using betting exchanges, our recommended sportsbook with the best pricing is BoyleSports, although any number of betting sites that have a Best Price Guarantee on horse racing and greyhound racing have players covered completely, meaning that you will not miss out on the best price available.

What is the best UK betting site for beginners?

We recommend using BetUK, LiveScore Bet, or Sky Bet if you are a beginner. BetUK has a comprehensive sportsbook and great welcome offer, LiveScore Bet uses modern and responsive software while Sky Bet has excellent support on top of well-priced odds.

      6. BetVictor - Betfinder tool to help you navigate
      7. Ladbrokes - Old school, trusted bookie
What sports betting site has the best bet builder?

Perhaps unsurprisingly, bet365 is the undisputed king of the bet builder and therefore the best betting site with a bet builder. This is thanks in-part to the expansion of its bet builder into other sports, including tennis and even NFL matches now.

Bet365 ranks at the very top of our best bet builder sites list thanks to the range of sports it now covers, which includes staples like football, but also basketball too and with the extra option of being able to combine bet builders into an accumulator, the variation and options available are second to none.

Which UK betting sites have instant withdrawals?

The vast majority of bookmakers offer the ability for instant withdrawals, see our list of the best instant withdrawal betting sites for all of your best options. Quite simply, any bookmaker that offers Visa Fast Funds / Visa Direct, Neteller, Skrill, or PayPal payment methods, automatically means that players can withdraw funds instantly.

Using a debit/bank card with Visa Fast Funds/Visa Direct available will mean that withdrawals are processed within 2 hours. Usually, this will be quicker, but bookmakers use this timescale as a general rule.

Which online betting sites have the lowest minimum deposit amount?

What elevates the Betway app above the other best betting apps we reccommend, is its live streaming, which isn’t always available on other apps, 24/7 live support, and one of the most straightforward betting experiences available on a mobile device.

How many online betting sites are there in the UK?

As of April 2024, Bookies Bonuses lists over 205+ betting sites available in the UK, all licensed by the UK Gambling Commission.

How do online betting sites work?

Betting sites offer users a safe and secure opportunity to place a bet on the outcome or result of an event, usually a sporting contest, online and without the need to visit a licenced betting shop.

Players cannot just place a bet on a betting site, so to participate, users have to register with the betting site they wish to use, giving personal and payment details as required by the company.

Once a player has signed-up, they are then able to deposit funds to their betting account and gamble on any event that has an available market.

Placing a bet is simple, with a list of various markets available to bet upon. Popular markets include:

      • Outrights (result of an entire event or match)

      • Win-draw-win (outcome of a football match for instance)

      • Over/Under (predicting if a specific stat will be higher or lower than a specified amount)

      • Doubles (predicting the winner in two different events

      • First Scorer (selecting the player to score a goal/try/point first in the match)

      • Accumulator (predict the outcome of more than two matches or events)

The bookmaker provides various odds on the event(s) happening, which can be very small or large dependent on the event.

If a player places a bet and the outcome results in a win, the player will receive their original stake back, plus the amount of winnings calculated by the odds. So for instance, if a £1 bet is placed at odds of 2/1, the user will receive £3 back in total (£2 as winnings and £1 as a returned stake).

Once a bet has been settled (the event has finished), winning funds are returned to the players betting account, with the potential to withdraw winnings, if they wish to.

Players can withdraw winnings to their relevant payment method, although most bookmakers require a minimum of £5 to be withdrawn, due to processing costs.

How do I verify my online betting site account?

Verifying a betting account can be a frustrating process, but ultimately is one that protects both the user and the bookmaker. To verify your account, users can usually upload an image of a passport or driving license, while other items such as bank statements or utility bills can also be used, depending on the information required. This whole process is generally known as Know Your Customer (KYC).

The verification process actually begins on sign-up, with personal details such as age and address able to be verified via the electoral register, although if these details are unavailable, then a request for further information may be requested straight away.

Further verification helps bookmakers identify problem gamblers, who have self-excluded and checks for potential fraudulent behaviour too.

Most betting sites’ verification processes are straightforward. Using Ladbrokes as an example, players simply:

      • Log in to theirr account.
      • Navigate to “My Account” section.
      • Select Verification Centre.
      • Select Verify.
      • Upload the requested documents.
Why do betting sites restrict accounts?

Betting sites can restrict accounts for many different reasons. These can include a lack of or wrong verification details, suspicious/fraudulant activity, bonus abuse, large betting on niche sports, unusual betting patterns, and more.

For the majority of players, the likelihood of having your account restricted is likely because the documents uploaded for verification were not correct or inconclusive. If this is the case, it is easy to contact the bookmakers’ customer service team via web chat to address the problem and remove the restrictions.

How do I know if a UK betting site is legal?

Bookies Bonuses only lists betting sites that are licensed for betting operations. This license is given by the relevant national gambling authority of the country in question.

In the UK, all betting sites have to be licensed by the UK Gambling Commission and adhere to strict policy rules that can be changed by or on behalf of the UK Government.

If a betting site is not listed here, then chances are that it is not currently licensed for UK players.

Can you use foreign betting sites in the UK?

Many bookmakers are available outside of the UK and they do allow users to access them, however, it is not advised to do so, as they are not regulated by the UK Gambling Commission and thus any legal protections UK players should have, will not be available.

That's why Bookies Bonuses only list betting sites available in the UK, with all sites adhering to the strict rules and regulations set by the UK Gambling Commission.

I want to find online betting sites in my native country?

If you are one of the many visitors to Bookies Bonuses that reside outside of the UK, check out our nation-specific pages below detailing all the betting sites available to you in your country of residence, along with helpful information to get the best out of your betting experience, no matter where you are in the world.

Which UK betting sites have welcome bonuses?

In a competitive industry, almost all bookmakers except for No Bonus Casino, offer players an immediate incentive to join their site. This can be in the form of free bets, enhanced odds, or money back on losses, dependent on the site in question.

These welcome bonuses are based on the player meeting specific wagering criteria, which can include amounts deposited and wagered, plus how many times a bonus has been wagered, which is also known as turnover, with some bookmakers asking users to bet their bonus funds several times over before being able to be withdrawn as regular funds.

Betting sites with the best welcome bonuses include:

      1. Betfred - Bet £10 Get £40
      2. BetVictor - Bet £10 Get £40
      3. BetUK - Bet £10 Get £30
      4. Bet365 - Bet £10 Get £30
      5. Sky Bet - Bet £10 Get £30
      6. William Hill - Bet £10 Get £30
      7. The Online Casino - Bet £10 Get £30

Which online betting sites have the best promotions?

For players looking to bet on football, QuinnBet is the best betting site for promotions. QuinnBet has around nine different promotions across football betting markets, along with enhanced pricing and specials too.

Alternatively, if a player is more orientated towards horse racing, then Betfair is recommended, thanks to its plethora of racing promotions, great odds available on the exchange, and overall strong service.

And finally, if you are looking for free bets, then we recommend Sky Bet, which offers its Sky Bet Club that provides players with a free bet each week if certain criteria are met. This is a great option for bettors of sports in general, with the various ways of qualifying for free bets.

Overall, deciding which betting site offers the best promotions, can be based on several factors, including the sport a player is most likely to bet upon, as well as what type of bonus they are looking for.

Can you claim a sports and online casino bonus from the same betting site?

No, accounts are only allowed to claim a new sign-up offer once from the same site, meaning that you cannot sign-up for a betting offer at say Paddy Power and then go and claim a casino offer from them afterwards. Many bookmakers will restrict addresses to one single account, which in turn makes it more difficult to get around this.

This is classed as bonus abuse and is against a bookmaker's T&Cs. Players who try to circumvent this by opening another account would not be allowed to, as they already have an account, while anyone potentially giving false details would also be in breach of T&Cs and would therefore be caught almost immediately.

Why didn’t I get a betting site sign up offer?

There are many reasons for not qualifying for a sign-up offer. This can range from the minimum odds, deposit, or wagering amount not being met, to a player using a deposit method that is excluded from qualifying for the bonus, such as e-wallets.

Other common reasons for not getting a betting site sign up offer include not 'opting in', trying to claim a restricted bonus from a bookmakers' sister site, or not using an official link when a sign-up offer is only available for players coming from affiliate sites like Bookies Bonuses (eg. the Rhino Bet sign up offer is only available to players who click on a button from Bookies Bonuses).

When signing up for a welcome bonus, it is imperative that a player reads the T&Cs on how to qualify, with small important details easily missed and causing a player to fail to qualify for the bonus.
