PointsBet Review
After their hugely successful Australian launch in 2017, PointsBet bought their betting site across the pacific setting up their US headquarters in Denver, CO in 2019. Since then they have struck deals with NBC Sports, the NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB, and PGA, their users have multiplied and their stock price has risen sharply.
Today PointsBet is one of the fastest-growing betting sites in the US, operating legally online in CO, IA, IL, IN, KS, MD, MI, NJ, NY, OH, PA, VA, LA & WV
PointsBet’s popularity is due to many factors. For one thing, they exclusively use their own betting technology and odds and they focus on creating a unique brand that excels for betting on major US sports.
This means you have the best chance of finding unique lines at PointsBet.
In fact, PointsBet consistently has the best Moneyline, Spread, and Totals odds for leagues like the NHL, NBA, and MLB. PointsBet USA also has a huge range of betting options including ‘Points Betting’, Same Game Parlays', and ‘Name-a-Bet’ markets blowing the competition out of the water in terms of betting variety.
We also love PointsBet USA’s features like full and partial cash out, quick parlays, live streaming, and live betting.

PointsBet Sportsbook
You’ve read (or at least scrolled past) our overview of PointsBet, what we think are the major pros and cons and you also know a bit more about the PointsBet sign up bonus. But what about the most important thing - the PointsBet sportsbook?
When you land on PointsBet’s website you’ll notice that the featured sports (probably NBA, NHL, NFL, MLB, or college sports) will be front and center, and these can be navigated through by using the tabs at the top of the page.
The PointsBet sportsbook has some of the highest odds for US sports as well as plenty of betting options from single bets to Single Game Parlays, live bets, Points Betting, and even Name-a-Bet.
To find other, smaller sporting events to bet on like tennis, MMA, or even Aussie Rules or Cricket you can select the “View All Sports” option in the sidebar or find your sport in the menu or by using the “Search” tool.
You’ll also notice that PointsBet has a few other menu options like “Live” events for in-play betting, “Next Up” for the matches that are starting soon, and “Quick Parlay” which allows you to create a parlay bet across multiple sports.
The Pointsbet Sportsbook is well designed, fast to load, and easy to use on both desktop and mobile.
Features of the PointsBet Sportsbook
- PointsBet Odds
PointsBet beats the competition with better odds than DraftKings, FanDuel, and Bet MGM for NHL, NBA, and MLB Moneyline, Spreads, and Totals bets. PointsBet also owns their own betting technology so you'll never find identical odds on another US betting site.
- PointsBet Sports
When you consider PointsBet’s Name-a-Bet and PointsBetting options it’s clear that they have the most diverse range of betting options of any US betting site for the sports offered.
- PoinstsBet Cash Out
Available on all of the biggest betting markets, Cash Out and Partial Cash Out options allow you to claim some, or all, of your winnings, at a reduced payout to lock in your profits before the final whistle, buzzer, or pitch of a game.
- PointsBet Live Betting
Pointsbet has an extensive live betting section that lets you bet on matches that are in-play. That means that when you are watching a match, and you find that there is value to be had based on the tempo or flow of a game, you can take advantage of ever-changing odds to place a bet.
- PointsBet Quick Parlay
The ‘Quick Parlay’ option on PointsBet allows you to create a Paraly with just a few clicks (or taps). You’ll have a range of different betting options across multiple different sports and your odds will multiply to increase your payout more as you add new selections.
- PointsBet Same Game Parlay
The Single Game Parlay option is available for specific sports - like the MLB, NBA, NFL, & NCAAB - and allows you to combine events from one match into a parlay bet to increase your odds beyond what multiple single bets would.
- PointsBet Live Streaming
As one of the few US betting sites to offer this service, Pointsbet's live streaming options are still a little limited. At the moment, you can only expect a number of different live streaming options on Pointsbet and they are mostly for smaller sports like Table Tennis.
- PointsBet Name a Bet
By selecting the PointsBet ‘Name a Bet’ option from the menu you can request a price for any type of bet you want. You’ll also be able to bet on some of the other ‘Name a Bet’ odds offered to other bettors.
- PointsBet Karma Kommittee
Unique to PointsBet, the Karma Kommittee can be contacted when something unforeseen and unlucky happens that causes your bet to fail. Things like season-ending injuries, bad referee decisions can help you to reclaim your bet stake as bonus bets.
PointsBet App
The PointsBet App is one of the best betting options in most US states. The app is easy to navigate with a search feature and quick bet options for pre-match, live, and parlay bets.
The PointsBet app offers all the same markets and features that are available on the PointsBet website including Spanish language options, unique betting features, high odds, and generous boosts and rewards.
The PoinstBet app is rated 4.4 stars in the App Store.
The PointsBet app is free for Apple and Android users.

PointsBet Payment Options
PointsBet USA has a solid (but not amazing) range of payment options but there’s certainly enough to make depositing and withdrawing from your PointsBet account easy.
The most popular PointsBet payment options include Visa, MasterCard, Bank Transfer, PayPal, PayNearMe, ACH, and the PointsBet MasterCard.
Perhaps the best thing about PointsBet payments though is the speed of withdrawals which we have found are among the fastest in the country - usually takes only a few hours max.
Note that your PointsBet deposit and withdrawal methods may vary depending on the state that you are in but in general the most popular payment options are available in every PointsBet state.
PointsBet Deposit
PointsBet deposit options include:
- Credit/Debit Card (IA only Debit Card)
- PayPal
- Online Bank Transfer
- PayNearMe (Not in MI)
- ACH/eCheck
- PointsBet MasterCard (NJ only)
- Cash In-person (IL, IA, NJ only)
The PointsBet minimum deposit amount is $5 and the PointsBet minimum bet amount is $0.50.
The daily maximum PointsBet deposit amount varies depending on your deposit method and ranges from $500 with PayNearMe to no limit with PayPal or cash deposits.
Most PointsBet deposit options are instant with the exception of PayNearMe which may take 20 minutes and ACH/eCheck which can take up to 3 days.
PointsBet Withdrawal
PointsBet withdrawal options include:
- PayPal
- Online Bank Transfer
- ACH/eCheck
- PointsBet MasterCard (NJ only)
- Cash In-person (IL, NJ, IA only)
The minimum PointsBet withdrawal amount is $5 for most payment methods but $20 for the PointsBet Mastercard and $50 for in-person cash withdrawals.
The daily maximum PointsBet withdrawal amount also depends on your withdrawal method with no limits for PayPal and ACH withdrawals, $10,000 for in-person cash withdrawals and $500 for PointsBet MasterCard ATM withdrawals.
PointsBet withdrawal times range from instant for cash withdrawals to 1-2 days for PayPal and up to 5 days with ACH or online banking. We've found that PointsBet withdrawals normally only take a couple of hours after you've made your first withdrawal.
PointsBet Verification
PointsBet will automatically try to verify your identity based on the information you provide when signing up. PointsBet verification must be completed otherwise your account will be de-activated until verification is done. You will also not be able to request a PointsBet withdrawal until your account is verified.
If you fail the automatic PointsBet verification, don't worry, you can manually verify your PointsBet account by emailing id@pointsbet.com. You will need to send them proof of identity and proof address.
Pointsbet verification documents include:
- Proof of ID: Driver's License, passport, state ID etc.
- Proof of Address: Utility bill, bank statement, lease, cable bill, phone bill etc.
PointsBet ID verification takes 10 minutes to 24 hours and stays compliant with state regulations by deleting your ID documents after verification has been completed.
Points Betting
PointsBet’s most unique betting feature (although their are many), has got to be its Points Betting options.
Points Betting is unique to PointsBet and rewards you based on how ‘correct’ your bets are.
This high-risk, high-reward strategy may not suit everyone but it is a great option if you want to make your wagers more exciting and intense.
You can also set a win/loss limit for Points Bets which means that you don’t have to risk more than you’re willing to lose.
What are Points Bets?
Points Bets are different from regular fixed odds bets because your winnings are not set in stone - they change based on how a match is progressing.
When you place a Points Bet you have the chance to win more money depending on how correct your bet is and lose more money depending on how incorrect your bet is.
Points Bets can be placed on a number of different things from the total points scored in an NBA match to the time of the first goal in a soccer match or even the number of rushing yards an NFL player gets.
How does Points Betting work?
Depending on what you bet on, Points Bets are divided into units (or points). If you bet on total points scored the points scored will be the units, if you bet on the time of a goal then minutes will be the units and if you bet on rushing yards then the rushing yards will be the units.
For every unit that your bet wins by, you win 1x your bet amount but for every unit that your bet loses by you lose 1x your bet amount.
Points Betting Explained
For example, if you bet on the time that the first goal will be scored in a soccer match you will have to select either under or over a certain time - let’s say PointsBet offers you over 40 minutes or under 37 minutes.
If you bet on over 40 minutes with a $2 bet then your winnings or losses (not including your bet stake) would be as follows:
- A first goal in the 10th minute would lose 30 times your bet stake ($60)
- A first goal in the 30th minute would lose 10 times your bet stake ($20)
- A first goal in the 40th minute would return 0 times your bet stake ($0)
- A first goal in the 50th minute would return 10 times your bet stake ($20)
- A first goal in the 70th minute would return 30 times your bet stake ($60)

In other words, you do not need to be in a ‘PointsBet state’ to have a Pointsbet account but you do need to be there (and have geolocation turned on) when you place your bets.

PointsBet Casino
Today, the PointsBet Casino is only available in Michigan and New Jersey but more US states are set to get the PointsBet casino soon.
For now, PointsBet’s online casino is better in NJ with live casino games like poker, baccarat, blackjack, and more available.
Otherwise, the PointsBet Casinos in NJ and MI both have simulated table games like Roulette, Blackjack, and Baccarat as well as Video Poker and a small range of Online Slots.
The PointsBet casino is definitely not as good as extensive or interactive as other Online Casinos in the USA but it’s a nice option for players looking for a bit of excitement between sports matches.

PointsBet USA FAQ
There are a number of reasons why we think PointsBet is one of the best betting sites in the USA.
For one thing PointsBet consistently has some of the best moneyline, spread, and totals odds for the NBA, NHL, and MLB.
PointsBet USA also offers the most NBA betting options in the world plus a lot of markets for a range of other sports including Single Game Parlays, Points Betting, and Name-a-Bet.
Points Betting is a unique way of betting on sports that is only available on PointsBet. In essence, you win (or lose) more depending on how correct (or incorrect) your bet is making it a high-risk, high-reward strategy.
For example, if you place a $10 bet on the total number of points scored by LeBron James in an NBA match you will need to select either over or under a line set by PointsBet. Let’s say that Pointsbet’s line options for this bet are either ‘over 31’ or ‘under 29.5’.
If you bet on ‘over 31’, you need LeBron to score 32 or more points to walk away with a profit. For every point that Lebron scores over 31, you will receive 1x your bet amount, for every point that LeBron scores under 31 you will lose 1x your bet amount.
Let’s say that LeBron scores 36 points. You beat the line by 5 points so you win 5x your bet amount which was $10, so you win $50 plus you get your $10 bet amount back. If LeBron scored 31 points, you would just get your bet amount back ($10) and if he only scored 26 points you would lose $50 because you lost to the line by 5 points.
You can also set a bet cap on your Points Betting bets which limits your potential losses and winnings.
