ScoreUP is a new promotion available in the Netherlands that allows you to win your match-winner bet early if a player you've selected scores the opening goal.
Normally, when you back a team to win, you have to wait until the final whistle to see whether your bet has won. However, with ScoreUP, your bet is settled as a winner as soon as your chosen player scores the first goal, regardless of the final result.
So even if your team goes on to draw or lose the match, your bet has already won.
Which Betting Sites in the Netherlands offer ScoreUP?
At the moment, Circus is the only Dutch bookmaker offering ScoreUP.
However, the feature was only launched recently, so we expect other betting sites in the Netherlands to follow suit and introduce their own version of ScoreUP in the coming months.
What exactly is ScoreUP?
ScoreUP is a new feature available on selected pre-match football bets that allows you to win your bet before the final whistle.
You still back a team to win as usual, but you also select a player from that team who you think will score the first goal of the match.
If your player opens the scoring, your match-winner bet is settled as a winner straight away. It doesn't matter what happens during the rest of the match.
Let's say you're backing Ajax to beat NEC and you choose Tolu Arokodare as your ScoreUP player. Tolu scores the opening goal after just 7 minutes, but Ajax eventually throws away the lead and draws 1-1.
Normally, your Ajax win bet would lose. However, with ScoreUP, you've already won because your selected player scored first.
How do I use ScoreUP?
Using ScoreUP is pretty straightforward. You don't need to place a separate bet on the first goalscorer, as the feature is added to your regular match-winner selection.
Here's how to use it:
- Find a football match displaying the JOKERS symbol.
- Select the team you want to back in the Match Result (1X2) market.
- Add your selection to the bet slip and choose ScoreUP from the available Jokers.
- Select one of the eligible players you think will score the opening goal.
- Confirm your selection and place your bet as normal.
What happens if my selected player does not score the first goal?
If your selected player doesn't score the opening goal, it doesn't automatically mean you've lost your bet.
For example, let's say you've backed Groningen to beat Excelsior and selected Stijn van Gassel as your ScoreUP player. If another player scores first, ScoreUP won't be triggered. However, your original bet on Groningen to win remains active.
So, if Groningen goes on to win the match, your bet still wins as normal.
There's also another scenario worth knowing about. If the first goal is scored before your player has entered the pitch, ScoreUP no longer applies. However, if your bet also includes the 2UP Joker, that promo will automatically take over.
