Cognizant Classic - Boyle Sports Boosts
Cognizant Classic
Tournament Preview
The Cognizant Classic takes place at PGA National in Florida this week, with a field of 123 players taking part, with competitors looking to finish in the top 65 to qualify for the weekend's play.
PGA National is based in Palm Beach Gardens, with the "Champion" course used for the event, which is one of six courses at the venue.
The Champion course was designed by George and Tom Fazio back in 1981, but has since had further work in 2002, with $4 million worth of upgrades.
The course is famous for the "Bear Trap", a trio of holes from 15 to 17, named after Jack Nicklaus, who was known as the "Golden Bear".
123 players feature in this event with some of the very best players taking a week off, which will open up the betting for punters. Once again, Boyle Sports are offering 10 PLACES on the event, with a further 12 places available via "Pick Your Place".
The defending champion is Joe Highsmith (175/1), who picked his one and only professional victory here in 2025. He has struggled since then, while this year he has missed three cuts and finished T54 at best. It will be a huge ask to replicate that result.
Ryan Gerard (12/1) has had a strong start to the season and is the only player in the current top 30 of the FedEx standings to feature here. A solid 4th and T25 in two visits, suggests he enjoys this course, although form has dipped slightly from the successive second place finishes last month. Huge chances here
Shane Lowry (12/1) is a potential "horse for the course", having placed T11 or better in the last four visits to PGA National, including going close with a second in 2022. T8 and T24 so far this season points to the Irishman's strong form, which combined with a course he loves, could reap its rewards.
Nicolai Hojgaard (16/1) has followed his T24 in his first seasonal start, with a T3 at the Phoenix Open, which made it three Top 4 finishes in his last six events. Top 20 finish last year and capable of building upon that on current form.
Michael Thorbjornsen (18/1) offers plenty of consistency, with eight T25's or better in his last fifteen events, including a T3 at the Phoenix Open. He is a player who can cobble a run together when on form and this PGA National offers a chance to showcase his skills.
Remaining Top 10 In The Betting:
- Rasmus Hojgaard - 18/1
- Keith Mitchell - 22/1
- Daniel Berger - 25/1
- Aaron Rai - 28/1
- Brooks Koepka - 28/1
- Davis Thomson - 28/1

This Week's Golf Tips

Tips:
A disappointing week at last weeks Pebble Beach event, with none of the trio of selections hitting their mark, but we go again with another threesome, with up to 12 Places available via Pick Your Place.
- Shane Lowry - Each-Way (10 Places) @12/1 - Form and being that "horse for the course" is difficult to ignore, but I'm gonna hedge with an each-way still.
- Johnny Keefer - Each-Way (10 Places) @33/1 - A best of T27 so far in four starts but he tops the tour on Greens Hit and is second in Ball Striking.
- Jordan Smith - Pick Your Place (12 Places) @33/1 - Three cuts in four events, including a T16 last week. Leads Ball Striking on tour and looks a very capable rookie.
