US Open - Boyle Sports Boosts
Tournament Preview
Another month, another Major, this time the 126th US Open at Shinnecock Hills, as 156 entries look to etch their name in the history books.
Shinnecock Hills is a traditional links style course in Long Island, NY, and is one of the five charter clubs that formed the USGA. It plays over 7,440 yards, as a tough Par 70, with narrow fairways and fast greens being the most notable features.
The course record is a 63 (-7) scored by Tommy Fleetwood, in the 2018 edition played here.
The course was originally designed by McKim, Mead & White Architects and opened in 1891. It was a pioneer for women's golf, having allowed female players to be members from it's inception.
156 players take part at Shinnecock Hills, with Boyle Sports offering 12 PLACES on the event, thus offering room for manoeuvre in the markets.
Last year's winner and defending champion is JJ Spaun (35/1). The American was the only player to finish under par at Oakmont, beating Robert MacIntyre by two strokes. He has bounced back well from a missed cut at the PGA Championship, with a T6 and T12, but will need to find more, if he is to regain his crown.
The favourite, unsurprisingly is Scottie Scheffler (5/1). The American can secure a career Grand Slam with victory and comes into this event fresh from a week off, having placed T12 at The Memorial. The one to chase, although his approach play needs a little tweak to be at his full capacity.
Rory McIlroy (9/1) is again the perennial threat to the favourite. Since winning the Masters, the Northern Irishman has placed T19-T7-T12. Did miss the cut here in 2018, so something more personal to prove I feel.
Jon Rahm (11/1) returns to the fore, having missed out to Aaron Rai at the PGA Championship. Since that second place, he has a T16 and T2 over on the LIV Tour and remains as dangerous a player, as ever.
Xander Schauffele (12/1) is a player who steps up for a Major, having finished in the Top 10 over the last three, including last year's Open Championship. Four Top 10s in his last seven events, also put him right in the picture this week.
Remaining Top 10 In The Betting:
- Tommy Fleetwood - 14/1
- Matt Fitzpatrick - 14/1
- Ludvig Aberg - 18/1
- Cameron Young - 18/1
- Si-Woo Kim - 25/1
- 28/1 Bar

This Week's Golf Tips

Tips:
After an unplanned week away, I'm hoping a break will have reset my luck and judgement, but only time will tell. But at least we have 12 places to play with, for this weeks selections!
- Xander Schauffele - Pick Your Place (6 Places) @18/1 - A risky pick, but he always picks up during Majors, so looking for more of the same.
- Bryson De Chambeau - Each-Way (12 Places) @28/1 - Couple of solid performances on the LIV Tour, while his big hitting can thrive here.
- Tyrrell Hatton - Each-Way (12 Places) @33/1 - Has finished in the Top 20 in half of 18 major appearances. T6 here in 2018 and course arguably suits him.
