Quick Verdict

Stan Miller

Stan Miller

Tipico is one of the most popular and preferred by German punters bookmakers, for its many advantages over the competition.

Here is a summary of what makes Tipico stand out:

  • Has a good app

  • Modern features on the site, but boring colours

  • Good for beginners

  • Good number of markets, so it's a good option for experienced players

  • Taxes are paid by the bookie

  • Maximum weekly winnings are capped at €100,000

  • Overall: 9/10 Stars - RECOMMENDED ✅✅

Step-by-step guide to claim the full Tipico sports bonus in 2022

100% up to €100

If you decide to sign up for sports betting with Tipico, you get a welcome bonus of 100% up to €100. The minimum deposit is €10.

Tipico - the good, the bad and the ugly.

Don’t we all love a good bookmaker love story, where we place a bet and it doesn’t get cancelled, withdraw whenever we want and pay no betting taxes?

Well, with Tipico, we might be closer to the holy grail than you’d think.

In this review, I will cover how you can take full advantage of the sports deposit bonus, review the bookmaker’s features, discuss what I love and what I don’t like about the bookie and give my overall unbiased opinion.

I took the time to go through all the Terms & Conditions so you don’t have to. Here is my definitive guide to benefitting the most from the Tipico Welcome Bonus.

I will start by listing a few things you must consider before I proceed. Here is my super important DO-NOT-do list:

Do-NOT list

  • Do NOT use Skrill or Neteller as they are not eligible for the bonus

  • Do NOT request to withdraw before receiving the bonus, or you’ll lose it

  • Do NOT bet your bonus on system bets or several single bets on your slip

  • Do NOT use a bank account that is not in your name

Now that we’ve gone over the basic precautions, let’s look at how to claim the bonus.

Here is the “Hold-My-Finger-And-Guide-It” type of list to redeem the Tipico bonus:

Step 1: Deposit €100 and you will receive €100 in free bets

Step 2: Place a single or a combination (accumulator) bet with minimum odds of 2.0

Step 3: Wager the bonus amount at least 6 times, following Step 2’s requirements, within 30 days. In this case, the total amount in bonus money you need to wager is €600

Step 4: Voila! You have done it, enjoy your bonus!

To withdraw your bonus…

You can easily track how much of the deposit bonus still needs to be turned over before you can withdraw it by going to “My Account”. After completing the wagering requirements of 6 times the bonus amount, you’re done!

Bonuses for existing players

If you were wondering about the bonuses after you have claimed your first deposit bonus, you will not be disappointed to know that Tipico offers a good selection of bonuses for existing customers!

Here is a list of all currently available existing customer sports bonuses on Tipico:

  1. Deposit Promotional Offer
Occasionally Tipico will send you an email or an account message that allows you to use a promotional offer. When you receive the promotional offer, you can claim it by depositing a minimum of €10. The wagering requirements for the bonus amount are as follows: odds 1.5 and 6 times turnover within 30 days.

  2. Direct Promotional Offer
You will receive an account message with a direct promotional offer from time to time and the exact wagering requirements will be described in the offer. If they are not, the following applies: minimal odds of 1.5 and 6 times turnover within 30 days.

  3. Free Bets
You can receive the occasional bonus of free bets in your account. If no special conditions are specified, then you need to stick to the general terms for free bets, which are no minimal odds, but maximum odds of 500.0, and the free bet expires after 7 days, so use it quickly! After you wager your free bet, any winnings you make must be wagered 1 time within 7 days, or they will also expire. Last but not least, when using free bets as your stake, when you win you do not get that amount back.

    Here is an example
    of it all in action:
You get €10 in free bets. You must use the full amount on one bet within 7 days. Let’s say your bet wins and you win €20. The free bet amount will not be given back to you, but the other €10 you won, will. Now you have another 7 days to bet this new €10 before it expires. After you have wagered your winnings and the bets have settled, you can keep them and withdraw them.

  4. Risk-free Bets
Just like all other Tipico bonuses, you can only place these on single or accumulator (combination) bets. This does not include system bets. Note that you can only use this type of bet for short-term or soon-happening events and not for seasonal events. There are no wagering requirements and no minimal odds, but maximum odds of 500.0 apply.

    Here is how it works.

You receive a “risk-free bet”. You bet €20 from your own money and select the option “risk-free” before placing it. Now if you win the bet, you get your stake AND your winnings back. If your bet loses, you get your stake (your €20) back and you need to wager them again with ANY odds within 7 days or you will not keep the amount. After completing the wagering requirements for the refunded bet you can withdraw it if you wish.

What about the website?

Tipico launched their website in 2005, after being licenced in Malta in 2004. In 2014 the site became number one in Germany and the 2018 Bundesliga partnership once again reaffirmed the strong and serious intentions of the bookmaker to provide its customers with the best products and services on the market.

Tipico is owned by Tipico Co. Ltd. and is registered in Malta with registration number C 34286. Tipico also holds a German licence - RPDA - Dec. lll 34-73 c 38.01/6-2019/4, so it is completely legal to use for betting.

The website itself is well-optimised on desktop and mobile. Navigating to different markets and pages is easy and intuitive, so luckily you won’t be pulling your hair out trying to find the World Cup or any Bundesliga matches, YAY!

Of course, in typical German nature, the site’s colour is grey throughout, but there’s also some red 😏. Still, menus are well separated and easy on the eyes, and the website is personally my favourite of the bunch because of the care put into it.

The mobile version, in case you don’t want yet ANOTHER app on your phone, is great too.

Here is a glimpse into the mobile version with a screenshot from my Samsung Galaxy S21:

Tipico App

Tipico has a mobile app and it’s great, with nice navigation and quick-loading pages.

It’s currently rated 4.5 stars on the Google Play Store and I can see why - it sends great notifications, and everything I can do on the desktop version, I can also do on the app.

And what’s more, I stay logged into the app, so when I am urgently scrambling to place a last-minute bet, I don’t have to worry about logging in to the website.

Does Tipico have a lot of markets/betting options to offer?

Here is a table comparing the number of available markets for the World Cup on Tipico vs bet365:

Number of marketsNumber of markets
Argentina vs Croatia172149
France vs Morocco180149
England vs USA168110
Poland vs Saudi Arabia149110

Payout margin

By looking at the 3-way market odds, I calculated the payout rates of Tipico and a few of its competitors in Germany. Below is a table of some recent payout margins from bookmakers that Bookies Bonuses trusts:

Tipico offers on average 95% payouts on World Cup football matches, as of November 2022. This is a normal, high-level bookmaker payout, so I have nothing to complain about!

List of all sports

When it comes to the variety of sports available on Tipico, the bookmaker performs modestly. With only 20 sports to bet on, it is far from the largest selection out there, but as long as the basics such as football, basketball and tennis are covered, it’s good enough in my book.

Here is the full list of 20 sports on Tipico in alphabetical order:

  • American Football

  • Bandy

  • Baseball

  • Basketball

  • Boxing

  • Curling

  • Darts

  • Football

  • Futsal

  • Handball

  • Ice Hockey

  • Motorsport

  • Rugby

  • Snooker

  • Table Tennis

  • Tennis

  • Volleyball

  • Winter Sports
    • Alpine skiing

    • Biathlon

    • Ski Jumping

Virtual sports? Esports?

Unfortunately, Tipico doesn’t feature any virtual sports yet, as for esports… you can forget about it, for now. The company focuses on real live sports events currently, but I hope they will start offering betting on esports games, such as CS:GO or Valorant to cater to the “sweaty-tryhards” or casual gamers audiences.

User experience

I found Tipico’s website very easy and pleasant to use. Despite the dull colours and lack of character, the site feels modern, quick and snappy. The mobile version of the website is well-optimised and I had no problems placing bets from my phone.

Tipico also rocks a very nice mobile app for Android and IOS devices, which sends neat notifications and reminders. I installed and tested it and also found it great to use. The menus are easy to find and matches take seconds to bet on - great for those last-second panic attacks when you realise the game is about to start and you forgot to punt on your team!

How good is Live betting on Tipico?

Usually, bookmakers include a small visual representation of the match, so you can follow the game, without watching the live stream.

Tipico also includes a small, and I would say too small actually, screen in the top right corner of its site, where you can follow the games.

While I am not the biggest fan of the way the game is presented, mainly because of how quickly it disappears, it definitely serves its purpose and works well.

Customer support

Ahh…, contacting customer support…, every bettors’ most beloved experience, isn’t it!? But hey, once you manage to FIND the live chat button, it works well, you know.

Tipico offers live chat and email support.

At 11:36 in the morning, I stumbled through a jungle of automated responses and frequently asked questions, and finally managed to get in touch with customer support through live chat. The agent seemed rushed to get me off the chat, but answered my questions quickly… I don’t know, it might have been his lunch break.

Customer support phone number?

In the past, customers had the option to contact customer support by calling them at 089 22 06 11 30, but it is no longer in use! Now the phone line is closed and replaced by live chat support!

Tipico has a very good selection of payment methods at their disposal. It is worth noting that maximum weekly winnings are capped at €100,000, so you might only be able to withdraw this type of money through a SEPA bank transfer or through VISA.

Casino games

Tipico features 151 online casino games as of November 2022. I believe they might add more, but that takes time given the regulation surrounding online casinos. Luckily some popular games are available, such as Big Bass Bonanza, Book of Dead, Mustang Gold and a bunch of other similar variations, so there is something for everyone.

Casino bonus - 100 Free Spins, worth €10

From 23 November 2022, until 31 December 2022, new customers can register and get 100 spins in the game “Book of Dead” for free. This is a great offer as it doesn’t require anything from us as players - all you need is a successful registration. The free spins must be used within 3 days of receiving.

Also, the winnings from the free spins must be wagered 40 times within 3 days.

Make sure to plan accordingly so you have time to complete the required actions.

Note: In case your free spins are not automatically added to your account within 24 hours, you can email customer support at: kundenservice@tipico.com and put “100 Free Spins” in the subject line.

FAQ - Tipico

I bet €5 at 3.33 odds, does it count towards bonus wagering?

Yes! You can bet any sum with minimum odds of 2.0 for your bet to count towards the wagering requirements. For example, you can wager €4 with odds of 2.5 and it will count!

Can I use the Cashout function?

Yes! Tipico does feature a cashout feature, BUT you shouldn’t use it if you want to finish the wagering requirements, as it doesn’t count.

What happens if you play through the full bonus, BEFORE completing the wagering requirements?

Nothing, you don’t have to pay it back. If you deplete the bonus amount before you have completed the turnover requirements, you will simply lose the bonus. That’s it.

What happens with the bonus after 90 days?

If you haven’t completed the wagering requirements within 90 days, then the rest of the bonus and any “winnings” you have made with it, will be forfeited.

I deposited €10 and received €10 bonus. I made €50 from the bonus. Can I withdraw it?

No, if you have accepted the bonus, you need to fulfil the wagering requirements before you can take it out. In this scenario €10 x 6 = €60 from the bonus money needs to be placed as a bet.

You also need to wager your initial deposit amount 1 time before you can withdraw it.

How does the wagering requirement work exactly?

Here is a situation to help you visualise it: You deposit €10 and get €10. Now you have to wager €60 worth of bonus money to be able to withdraw it.

- How, I only have €10?

Here is how (example) - you bet €10 with 2.0 odds, win the bet and you get €20. Now you bet €20 (new bonus amount) with odds 3.0, you win and now you have €60 bonus money. So far you have wagered €10 + €20 = €30, meaning you have €30 more to wager, in order to reach the €60. From the hypothetical €60 in bonus money you now have, bet €30 with odds 2.0 and you’re done. If you win that bet too, the bonus is yours to keep (and its winnings).

Final verdict

Overall, Tipico is a good bookmaker and I can see why it is one of the German folks’ favourites. The bookie offers live streaming, live betting, tax-free betting, a good welcome bonus and decent recurring customer bonuses.

Whilst it doesn’t have the most diversified sports collection, Tipico offers great odds and quick payouts which makes it great for me and I believe for novice and experienced players alike!
