Substitution Guarantee in the Netherlands: Which Bookmakers Offer It?
Goalscorer bets are one of the simplest types of football bets: you pick a player, and if they score, you win. The downside is that your bet can be over before the match has even finished. If your chosen player is substituted before scoring, the bet is usually settled as a loss.
However, Substitution Guarantee changes this by automatically transferring your goalscorer bet to the player who comes on as their replacement. If the substitute scores, your original bet is settled as a winner.
The Sub Safe promotion is still relatively uncommon in the Netherlands and is currently available at only a small number of licensed bookmakers.
Which betting sites offer SubSafe in the Netherlands?
If you have searched for this promotion before, you may have noticed that it appears under several different names. Some bookmakers call it SubSafe, while others use names such as GoldenSub or Sub On Play On. Despite the different branding, the concept works in the same way.
We checked all 22 licensed betting sites in the Netherlands to find out which bookmakers currently offer this promotion.
At the time of writing, only four licensed Dutch bookmakers offer goalscorer substitution: VBet, bet365, Unibet, and 711.

How does Sub Safe work?
The easiest way to understand SubSafe is with an example.
Imagine you've backed Haaland to score at any time.
Haaland starts the match and has a few chances but is substituted after an hour without scoring.
Normally, that would be the end of the bet. Once the player you've backed leaves the pitch, they obviously no longer have a chance to score.
However, with SubSafe, the bookmaker transfers your bet to the player who comes on as Haaland's replacement. If that player scores later in the match, your original bet is settled as a winner.

SubSafe is usually available on the most popular goalscorer markets, including:

The exact markets, competitions, and conditions vary by bookmaker. Some operators may only apply the feature to selected matches or markets, so it is worth checking the individual terms before placing a bet.
Why is SubSafe not available at more Dutch betting sites?
The Dutch betting market operates under stricter rules than many other European countries.
Since the regulated online market opened in 2021, licensed operators have faced tighter restrictions around advertising, promotions, and customer incentives. That's why there aren't that many bookmaker promotions available in the Netherlands these days.
As a result, bookmakers have looked at other ways to differentiate their betting products. Features such as SubSafe and 2UP allow bookmakers to offer something different without relying on traditional bonuses.
However, for now, SubSafe remains available only at a limited number of licensed Dutch bookmakers.
