While Super Sub has been popular with UK bookmakers for some time, it has only recently started appearing in the Netherlands and is still offered by just a handful of Dutch betting sites.
Normally, if you back a player to score and they’re substituted before finding the net, that’s the end of the bet.
With Super Sub, your bet carries on with the player who replaces them. If that substitute scores later in the match, your original bet still wins.
So even if your player leaves the pitch, your bet doesn’t necessarily leave with them.
Which betting sites offer SubSafe in the Netherlands?
If you’ve looked for this promotion before, you may have noticed that bookmakers use several different names for it.
Some call it SubSafe, while others use names such as Golden Sub or Sub On Play On.
While the names are different, the idea is essentially the same: if the player you backed is substituted, your bet moves to the player coming on in their place.
We checked all 22 licensed betting sites in the Netherlands to see which bookmakers currently offer this promotion.

How does Sub Safe work?
The easiest way to explain SubSafe is with an example.
Imagine you've backed Haaland to score at any time.
He starts the match, gets a few chances, but after an hour he is substituted without scoring.
Normally, that would be the end of the bet. Once the player you've backed leaves the pitch, they obviously no longer have a chance to score.
However, with SubSafe, your bet continues.
The bookmaker transfers your bet to the player who comes on as Haaland's replacement. If that player scores later in the match, your original bet is settled as a winner.
So instead of your bet ending when your player is taken off, you still have a chance of winning through his replacement.
Which betting markets are usually included?
SubSafe is usually available on the most popular goalscorer markets, including:

- First Goalscorer
- Last Goalscorer
The exact markets and conditions depend on the bookmaker.
Some operators may only offer the feature on selected matches, competitions or goalscorer markets, so it’s always worth checking the terms before placing your bet.
Why is SubSafe not available at more Dutch betting sites?
The Dutch betting market has stricter rules around gambling promotions than many other European countries.
Since the regulated online market opened in 2021, licensed bookmakers have faced tight restrictions on advertising, bonuses, and other promotional incentives.
That's why there aren't that many bookmaker promotions available in the Netherlands these days.
As a result, operators have started looking for other ways to make their sportsbooks stand out. Features such as SubSafe and 2UP allow bookmakers to offer something different without relying on traditional promotions.
However, for now, SubSafe is still quite rare. Only seven out of the 22 licensed Dutch bookmakers currently offer some form of substitution guarantee.
