Last Race Recap

Lando Norris continues to lead the World Drivers' Championship, but his advantage is now down to just 12 points, after a Qatari Grand Prix that McLaren got tactically wrong, due to tyre usage rules that were in place.

At the start, Oscar Piastri lead Verstappen and Norris, before a safety car was called on lap 7 after Nico Hulkenberg's car was stranded due to a collision with Pierre Gasly. 

With a maximum of 25 laps usage allowed on each set of tyre, the majority of teams barring McLaren pitted, and for the rest of the race, the two Papaya coloured cars were left chasing the race, with Max Verstappen winning, Oscar Piastri second and Carlos Sainz with an impressive third. 

Max Verstappen is just 12 points adrift of Lando Norris

Landon Norris was fortunate on the final lap, as Kimi Antonelli's mistake let the Brit get past, to take fourth, which means a third or better in Abu Dhabi will be enough to take the crown for the first time.

Elsewhere, George Russell finished behind his teammate, with Fernando Alonso and Charles Leclerc following in seventh and eighth, while Lewis Hamilton endured another wretched weekend, placing twelfth. 

Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

After the excitement of Qatar, we head to the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, with the title on the line. If Lando Norris can finish third or higher, he will become the World Drivers Champion. 

Max Verstappen must finish thirteen points ahead of Norris to secure the title, while Oscar Piastri would need to finish seventeen points ahead of his team mate and five ahead of Verstappen to secure an unlikely win.

The omens are good for Norris, having won at Abu Dhabi last year, however, Max Verstappen had won the previous four races at the venue.
