A bookmaker is only as good as its website/app and I am pleased to say that Star Sports offers an instinctive UI and layout that will be very familiar to users of Rhino Bet and AK Bets.

A traditional layout greets players when visiting the site, with a list of sports to the left and shortcuts to Football, Horses, Greyhounds, In-Play, Casino and Virtuals at the top of the page, the homepage and each subsequent sports page are visually easy on the eye,

The Star Sports website was designed by Two-Up, which also works with other sites such as Betfair and Sky Bet, offering a clean interface and one of the most aesthetically pleasing sites around, whilst also functioning excellently.

In terms of betting and making selections, Star Sports does the jump cleanly and swiftly, with selections added to the betslip on the right of the page and further betting options appearing as more selections are added to it.

The bet builder function is also very easy to use, with selections added to a makeshift betslip at the bottom of the page, showing current picks and odds, before being added as one to the main betslip.

Star Sports Mobile App

Star Sports continues to please customers and reviewers alike, with a dedicated mobile app for both iOS and Android devices, which is a joy to use, offering the full functionality and speed of its desktop counterpart.

The Star Sports app provides a perfect solution for betting on the go, offering the complete desktop package in the palm of your hand, including bet builder and cash-out options, the ability to watch live racing and greyhounds, plus access to the other areas of the site such as live casino and slots.

Outside of its strong functionality, speed and ease of use, there isn't much to say about the mobile app, other than it is thoroughly recommended. Any minor criticisms that I can think of, are more picky, such as more prominence could be given to promotions, but again these are very minor issues.

I cannot recommend the Star Sports app enough for those looking for a great mobile betting experience, with it being an essential addition to any Star Sports account.

Star Sports offers a very good betting experience, with enough ongoing promotions to dampen the disappointment of no new customer sign-up offer.

Star Sports provides a total of 30 markets when combining sports, real-world and TV betting. Much of the focus is on football, horse racing and greyhounds, with solid coverage of American sports too, including several promotions.

Star Sports features Asian Handicaps, as well as Money and Spread lines too.

Alongside regular outrights and individual match betting, players have a full range of bet types available from doubles, trebles, accas and system bets at their disposal, while an ability to create reverse forecasts and tricasts is notable, by its absence at other bookmakers. Make no mistake, Star Sports is a proper bookie!

An excellent bet builder can offer up to 100 markets for that moonshot bet, while cash-out functions work as expected, albeit without partial cash-out options. For those looking to back other market types, Asian handicaps are available, while both spread and money lines are available on American sports too.

Horse Racing

Star Sports horse racing section is one of the better options away from the big brand bookies, offering strong pricing and live streaming of UK & Irish racing and Greyhounds too.

One of the biggest appeals of any bookmaker is its pricing, Star Sports doesn't necessarily offer the outright best prices, but they are always competitive and edge towards the bigger end of the scale for the most part, something that extends to the sportsbook as a whole.

When it comes to market types, Star Sports offers the majority of expected options, with singles, doubles, system bets and more provided As mentioned above, the option for reverse forecasts/tricasts is a handy extra option, which isn't always available at other sites. 

Despite that, a lack of specialised markets, such as "winning distance" or "betting without" which proliferate race betting at Betfair or Betfred may disappoint some punters.

Star Sports offers plenty of international racing coverage, with France, the USA, Australia, South Africa and more available to bet upon and once again Star Sports shows other sites how to do things, by allowing international races to be used in forecasts, tricasts and system bets, which many just don't allow.

In terms of promos, Star Sports offers very little for horse racing, outside of the "Best Odds Guaranteed", which isn't anything new, but welcomed nonetheless. Hopefully, moving forward they will eventually add a few more enhancements for racing fans.

Overall, Star Sports is a solid option for horse racing punters, looking for good pricing and the basics done well, however, customers used to having plenty of promotions available, will find it difficult to leave the likes of Paddy Power or Betway.

Football

Star Sports' football betting section is another excellent offering, however, the initial realisation that there are "only" 50+ leagues and tournaments available may come as a surprise to some, who yearn for the Bahraini second tier, but in general, it features plenty of top leagues, even if it doesn't quite match the likes of William Hill or Bet365's range.

The betting itself is of course the star (sports) of the show, with well over 80+ markets to bet on, although these numbers tend to be reserved for Premier League, ChampIon League and other notable competitions.

Bet Builders play a significant part in football betting at Star Sports too, with a dedicated section available for the vast majority of games being played. Selections are added to the bet builder at the bottom of the page, with overall pricing given, before players confirm and add it to the betslip. Players can also take advantage of the potential of a 10% bonus, with 4+ bet builder selections and minimum odds of 5/1 to further enhance chances.

Football backers fare better when it comes to promos, with the aforementioned bet builder bonus, a further 10% bonus on both teams to score accas (4+ or more), plus partial money back offers on correct score and first scorer betting markets too, although individual match boosts are disappointingly absent.

If you are looking for a top-notch football betting option, Star Sports does a great job, with good pricing and enough promos to keep things interesting, It cannot quite compare to heavyweights such as Sky Bet or Betfair, but as an alternative to the bigger brands, Star Sports football betting is a great option.

Star Sports Bet offers an extensive casino experience with over 950+ slot and table games, along with over 95 live casino games in total, although this will no doubt increase over time.

Slots

Slots feature regular favourites, such as Joker's Jewels, Starburst and Gonzo's Quest, while newer games are regularly added and featured, all games are easy to find, thanks to an easy-to-use menu and a search function.

Drops and Wins feature, with this regular competition offering around £500,000 in prizes, while Megaways slots, Lucky Tap Slots, Classic slots and Slingo games all feature their sections for easy access. 

All slot games can be demo played, allowing users to try them out before staking real funds, while full-screen mode, sound options and "how to play" are available also.

Live Casino

Star Sports Casino offers a range of live games to players, including favourites such as  Blackjack, Baccarat and Roulette. These are joined by slightly more niche titles like Andar Bahar, Dragon Tiger and Teen Patti, which don't always get the live-action treatment.

Star Sports caters for varying bankrolls, with minimum bets as low as 20p, while VIP tables accommodate the "whales" with minimum stakes starting at £1,000 a pop!

Star Sports Casino is good enough to be a standalone site, with over 900+ games to play

My experience of live table play was very good, with audio and video running as expected and without issue, while dealers and hosts were friendly and informative. Overall, my time on the blackjack tables was fun, even though I came out slightly down on my initial bankroll, but I can quite happily admit that issue is on this reviewer's ability more than anything else!

Away from traditional casino games, Star Sports features a dozen gameshow-style games, including Crazy Time, Sweet Bonanza Candyland and Gonzo's Treasure Hunt. There are a couple of big hitters missing (Monopoly for example) so it would be nice to see this section expanded further.

Despite a general focus on the sportsbook, Star Sports' casino is a solid and well-rounded experience, offering over 900+ titles across varying game types and is good enough to stand on its own, it's just a shame there is no welcome bonus available to add the icing on the cake.

At the time of writing this review, payment options are limited at Star Sports, with just three payment methods available and no e-wallet options.
