Betr Sportsbook Overview

Jason Mancini
Jason Mancini - Associate Editor

Betr is the new kid on the block, looking to make waves in the sport betting industry by focusing on play-by-play microbetting. The highly engaging form of betting breaks down games into specific events like 'next pitch,' 'outcome of the next drive', and 'player to score next basket.'

The mobile first betting site is still in beta, but the future looks bright for Betr, and with an expanded suite of sports and more payment options this will be a fun way to wager.

Betr Review

There is a very good chance you've at least heard about Betr, or the controversial face of the company, Jake Paul. Claiming to be the 'world's first microbetting app,' Betr is looking to really pioneer a change in the way player wager on sports by breaking it down into play-by-play opportunities to wager.

Right now Betr is live in Ohio as both a free to play game, and for real money gambling. Betr has also had its license approved in Massachusetts, and will launch when the state goes live.

So what is Betr Sportsbook?

Claiming to be the first microbetting app is a little off the mark, because the same technology (Simplebet) used by Betr for their microbetting can be found in sportsbooks like DraftKings and FanDuel. Sure, they are the first dedicated microbetting app, and offer the most robust suite of microbetting markets in the US right now, so we do have to give them some props.

Since they made a lot of buzz through social media with Jake Paul as the face of Betr, there has been a lot of scrutiny over the betting site - but they have doubled down and been heavily promoting responsible wagering as well as limiting deposits for bettors under a certain age. A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one in an industry that is going through significant changes surrounding acceptable language in media.

What is Microbetting?

In the simplest terms, Microbetting is wagering on specific events throughout a game, rather than the outcome of the entire match.

For example, you can wager on what the outcome of the next drive in an NFL game will be. This can be broken down into a few different bets:

  • Touchdown
  • Punt
  • Field Goal
  • Turnover (interception/fumble)

It may seem surprising, but this is actually on the wider end of Betr's microbetting capabilities, as you can also bet on specific plays, how certain players will preforms during the drive, what the next pitch may be in a baseball game, or who will score the next basket in an NBA game.

There is a full description of every available market and type of mircobet you can place in the Betr FAQ.
