What Are Extra Place Races?

Bookmakers not only provide odds on the race winner, but also for runners that finish behind the winner.
Depending on the number of runners in a race, punters can place bets on horses that finish 2nd, 3rd and more, known as a "place bet" or combine it with a winning bet for an "Each-Way" bet.
Bookmakers offer places on all horse races in the UK and Ireland. Places are determined by the number of runners that will start the race, as explained below.
